Happy New Years!!!

Well 2006 is over and can I be one of the first people...ok maybe not first..but thank god! I am looking forward to a new year with new friends and let's face it...new men!

Angie's top 10 worst things of 2006

1. Surgery on my butt.
2. Broke up with my long-term boyfriend.
3. Had to move into a new place and start paying all the bills.
4. Lost a huge portion of my friends.
5. Went to school where fluffy dinosaurs exsist if you say it in a song.
6. Had to spend my first holidays alone in many years.
7. Fell for a guy that is married to his job.
8. Had to go through everything I owned and decide if it was mine on if it was Pete's...you know the dividing of things.
9. Had to do the christmas cookie delivery with my parents this year...every year gets worst and worst.
10. Did I mention that I had surgery on my butt, broke up with Pete and had to move out...yah I think nine is enough!

I know not everything this year has been bad. I guess each one of those things could have a positive spin on them but I don't feel like rationalizing things this year. It sucked but it's over!

Hope that you and I have a great 2007!!

Merry Christmas

Well Christmas has come and gone. I look back and wonder...was it really all worth it. Yes, now I have a cordless keyboard and mouse and Bailey has some special treats but did I really get anything out of this holiday season?? Every year my mother bakes and bakes and bakes and we put together around 60 or 70 plates of cookies. I dread this every year. The one thing I do enjoy doing it delivering these plates. Some of the people I deliver to I only see once a year. But every year my mom does more and more to the point where we barely get the plates fixed before Christmas. This year we didn't start delivering plates until late on the 23rd. By the 24th I was leaving plates on people's doorstep and not even knocking because I didn't have time to talk to anyone. I felt like I was "cookie bombing" them. I was running up to the door and quietly hanging the bag from the door knob hoping no on would hear me and then running to the car and pulling away quickly! I feel that the only good thing that was left in delivering the plates has been lost.

I didn't feel the Christmas spirit at all this year. Of course being by myself this year didn't help. There is something nice about having a significant other to share in your festivities. Even decorating the tree was sad this year. I was unloading the box of Christmas decorations and pulled out the two stockings, one with my name on it and one with Pete's. I just looked at it and put it back in the box. I didn't cry or anything but it sure put a damper on the mood I was trying to create.

So I look back on this Christmas season with a hope that next year will be better. I'll just scratch this one off...and hope for a better season next year!

A blog wouldn't be complete without some pics. So here are a few I did take on Christmas Day.

Mary's annual Christmas/caroling party!

Well it's Christmas time and Christmas would not be complete without the the Steffels annual caroling party. Thought this year there wasn't any singing. Mostly to due to the fact it was raining out. Not that I was disappointed. You don't know how bad of a singer you are until you go caroling with people from the Indianapolis Children's Choir!

We got to gether at Mary's parent's new townhome which is located on the cannal in downtown Indy. The place is breath taking. You should check out their master bath....I think you could fit 3 of my apartments in there....or atleaast one in the shower!

We had dinner and drinks. Don't ask Mary about dessert. The fried plantains didn't turn out exactly as planned. But she sure did try to get them to turn out. I don't think there was a spice she didn't sprinkle on them!

After our fabulous dinner and conversation we moved the party to a bar to have some martinis.

Here are a couple pics from the great evening we had!

Kim and Stephen come to the windy city!

Kim and Stephen made the long jouney to come see little old me and my tiny apartment. Though if you ask Stephen I think he was happier to see Bailey then me!

They came up on Saturday night. We went to dinner and then headed to Second City. It was their first time to go. After the main show the cast usually does an improv session. When they came out to start the improv to our surprise Jim Belushi came out. Everyone was very excited. His son, Robert Belushi also came out and did improv with them. All of a sudden our very front and center seats became the best seats of the house especially when Jim came over and crawled across my lap to start humping our very small table.

Here is a picture of Jim Belushi when he first came out.

Another picture of Jim Belushi.

On Sunday we got together with my friend Becky for brunch.

After brunch we went to IKEA. We had a great time looking for fabulous deals. After shopping we went to eat at Chevys. I had never been to a Chevys before but let me tell you, they have the best chips and salsa I have ever had!

Unfortunately after dinner it was time to say goodbye. This was definately the worst part of the visit. I hope they are able to come again....though I'm not sure I can promise them a movie start again!
